Mission & End Goals

The Bikery exists so that patrons, regardless of ability, social, economic, or cultural background, are provided access to sustainable transportation through cycling and equipped with the skills to fix and build their own bicycles at a justifiable cost.

  • The Bikery Organization contributes to diversifying the cycling community and eradicating ableism, heterosexism, transphobia, and white supremacy.

  • Patrons have affordable access to programs, tools, and events that provide value sufficient to justify the cost.

  • The Bikery Organization builds and fixes bikes that are safe and durable.

  • Patrons gain access to transportation security and recreation through cycling.

  • The Bikery Organization maintains a safe and supportive shop environment.

  • The Bikery Organization contributes to practices that are economically and environmentally sustainable and socially responsible.

The Bikery is lucky to have a strong core group of volunteers. Here are some of the faces you'll see around the shop.

Pete
Fundraising Lead

Pete loves riding bikes for fun, adventure, and as transportation around Seattle.  He finds peak happiness going fast on steep trails, going medium on trips around town, or going “party pace” with large cohorts of pals.  Pete began volunteering with the Bikery in early 2022 as a Fundraising Lead and enjoys picking up shifts at the shop when he has a free weekend.  His favorite archetype is dogs and he loves shredding gnar in it’s various forms.

Alex

Alex is a fair weather rider who loves to go fast down hills. Biking has been a tool for her to connect deeper with land, community, and self. While not biking, you can probably find her watching (or talking about) reality tv and taking selfies with her cats.

Bry
Board Member

Bry considers herself a transportation professional and a sometimes ride coordinator who has for years enjoyed the physical and mental joys and challenges the bicycle presents as a mode and as an object. Traveling short and longer distances by bike and picking up some DIY maintenance knowledge along the way is all part of the adventure. Bry believes in the uncanny ability of a good ride to bring people together and improve moods all around.

She is very into getting more butts on bikes and enjoying being outside together.

Katie
